Favorite Fighter: My favorite fighter is Chuck Lidell. The way he can knock someone out with one punch and his laid back personality really makes him someone I feel I could look up to. I think of him as my role model. If I could ever train with Lidell it would be a dream come true

Hero: My hero is Randy Couture. He has the drive and the will to still be fighting at 46 years old, and the way he was able to become a fan favorite is something I wish to do. Also, he signifies what the sport is all about, fighting to the end and never backing down from the challenge. When he steps into the cage you know it’s going to be a good fight.

I came to Peter Roger’s Gym looking for a sport that I could really get a good work out and get out any pent up aggression. Along with that I wanted to find a sport that was fun and not a chore. When I joined I found everyone was very welcoming and willing to take the time to teach you. As I continued I really got into the sport making new friends and teammates. Getting to know the people and finding out that they’re there to back you up and will be in your corner through it all. Then when training with them and everyone else that is there at the gym I’m able to get an awesome work out that works every part of the body. It’s a total body work out like no other. Training is fun and everyone is able to work at the level they feel comfortable with; whether it’s training intensely or just at a easy pace. Every time I step into the ring I try to improve, always trying to learn new things and really trying to be the best. There are so many aspects to think about, and if there’s ever a weakness there’s always a way to make it a strength.

Now I look to MMA not only for something that is a blast to do, but I hope to make it a career someday. In my first fight I was so excited, nervous, and pumped up. The only way I could describe it would be overwhelming. When you hear the crowd cheer and you know your doing good there isn’t a feeling on the world like it. Everything you’ve work for comes down to three rounds to prove you are the better fighter. It’s all on you and if you win or lose it comes down to you. To me this isn’t work it’s something that I could do everyday of my life and never be tired of. I love fighting and it has literally become my addiction. My dream is to become the welter weight champion of the world.

About: my gym Training with Peter Rogers and Pj Rogers is great. They work us all on great striking techniques, along with good submissions. If we aren’t sparring in the ring we are grappling. If we aren’t grappling we are working cardio. Pete is always keeping us busy and working us hard, especially before a fight. Our gym also has a very family sort of feeling. Thoughts about training: I started training to stay in shape, and fell in
love with it from then. Its the greatest workout ever, and I decided that
the only way to get better is to test my abilities and to start fighting.
I also love the friendships that I’ve with the other fighters. You gain a
special bond with someone after you punch them in the face on a daily
basis, its a unique bond.

Goals: To become a better fighter, and just do the best I can. I don’t
really have any lofty goals like get in the UFC and win the belt or
anything. I just want to be the best that I can, and see where that takes
me.

I grew up in Temple, TX and joined the military after high school. After serving 12 years, I decided that I needed to pursue higher education.  While obtaining my B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology, I joined the UConn Jujutsu club in hopes of finding an outlet for the daily school and job stresses.  I entered the Battle at the Sun III and this is where I met Peter Rogers and the members of Team Rogers who made me feel welcome right away.  As the ‘old guy’ of the team, I enjoy the competition in MMA and hope to continue fighting as long as I can.
